ABOUT ASEAN Quantity Surveyors Association (AQSA)

 ASEAN Quantity Surveyors Association (AQSA) is a collective body representing quantity surveyors, cost engineers, and construction economists from the Member Countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Our mission is to promote the aspirations, objectives, and principles of ASEAN while advancing the profession of quantity surveying in the region.
Founded in 2020 during a meeting of ASEAN Quantity Surveyors in Kuala Lumpur, AQSA serves as a platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and professional development among its members. 

We believe that by fostering close cooperation, we can contribute to the maintenance of peace and promotion of prosperity in the ASEAN region.
Our members are committed to upholding the highest professional standards and practices, and we recognize the importance of diversity in quantity surveying systems across the ASEAN region. 

By exchanging expertise and best practices, we aim to enhance the quality of quantity surveying services and contribute to the sustainable development of the construction industry in ASEAN.

Our Mission

The ASEAN Quantity Surveyors Association (AQSA), established in December 2020, is dedicated to strengthening collaboration among ASEAN nations through the advancement and mobility of Quantity Surveying services. Our mission is to:

- Foster strong professional relationships and networks across member countries,

- Promote the harmonization and enhancement of standards in Quantity Surveying practice and education,

- Facilitate mutual recognition and mobility of Quantity Surveyors within ASEAN,

- Support the continuous professional development and capacity building of our members.

AQSA, in collaboration with MATRADE, organized a webinar focused on exploring opportunities for exporting Quantity Surveying (QS) services to ASEAN countries. The event aimed to share effective strategies and pathways for Malaysian QS firms to expand into the ASEAN market, highlighting MATRADE’s initiatives to support such ventures. Key presentations were delivered by AQSA President Dato’ Sr Aziz Abdullah and MATRADE’s Director of Construction Business, Datin Rusiah Mohamed, followed by a panel discussion featuring industry experts Sr Kwan Hock Hai and Sr Dr Ong Lian, moderated by Assoc. Prof. Sr Dr Sarajul Fikri. The session provided valuable insights into the experiences and challenges of exporting QS services abroad. The webinar attracted 200 participants and was accredited with 2 CPD points by the Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM).

AQSA marked a significant milestone by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with leading Quantity Surveying professional bodies across ASEAN, aiming to foster collaboration and streamline cross-border Quantity Surveying services and education. Hosted by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), this initiative will expand opportunities for Quantity Surveyors to offer their expertise and educational programs throughout the region, with host countries facilitating these efforts. The MoU was signed by distinguished representatives from Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Brunei, and Indonesia, reflecting a united commitment to advancing the profession across ASEAN.

AQSA has taken another significant step in engaging with the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) through a virtual discussion between the AQSA Committee and MATRADE, led by Datin Rusiah Mohamed, Director of Construction Business Development. During the meeting, MATRADE shared key initiatives designed to promote Malaysian construction services internationally, highlighting various support services, grants, and assistance available to the industry. This engagement opens new opportunities for Quantity Surveying (QS) services to benefit from MATRADE’s offerings, and AQSA expressed keen interest in collaborating with MATRADE to further promote QS services via their platform.

Supported by key industry bodies such as MATRADE, BQSM, AFEO, MBAM, and ACEM, the event brought together distinguished speakers from across ASEAN, including the Honourable Secretary of the ASEAN Secretariat, the Chief Executive of CIDB Malaysia, construction ministry representatives, and presidents of various professional associations. The conference provided a vital platform for industry leaders, project managers, contractors, and developers to discuss challenges and explore future directions for the QS profession in the region.
